Been away for a few weeks...

I have REALLY missed this forum.
I rode my bicycle (yeah, non-motorized) two blocks away to the gas station
to buy a pack of cigarettes. It was very late at night, and raining. On
the way back, as I was riding past their Diesel pumps, I either hit
something I couldn't see, or slipped on some wet leaves or possibly even a
fuel spill.
When I went down, I broke both Tibia and Fibula on my lower left leg. Then
a w in the hospital. My only comfort was that I had my MS-Press COM
Programming book.
So, after several ws of pain killers and bed-rest, I now have a titanium
rod where my Tibia's bone marrow used to be, and now that I can use crutches
to get to my computer, -- it's been so long, a mouse feels strange in my
hand.
So I get to wear this cast for 5 months, and then after that, spend 5 more
months in physical therapy learning how to walk again.
Could there ever be a better argument to quit smoking!?
Aside from all the HR paperwork and corporate red-tape, I'm almost terrified
to find out what they did to my system in my absence.
So everyone get all your newbies to post here so I can feel better by
answering easy ones. :)

Me too. I won't see the database schema again till I'm back in my cube.
That's my greatest fear. MS-Access 97 people should NEVER be allowed to
design SQL Server databases.
But in the mean time, the drugs are REALLY GREAT!

5 months to wear a cast?
5 months of phys-theraspy?
I think we just stumbled across a major factor in your country's revenue
deficit. :)
Jokes aside, I wish you speedy recovery. (Both in your health and your work
- Access 97 developers? Good god!)
ML|||Yes, smoking is really bad for you. ;-)
Won't they at least let you VPN from home?
Welcome back, BTW.

And risk him having a heart-attack upon seeing what they did to his servers
while he was away? :)
ML|||> Yes, smoking is really bad for you. ;-)
On the contrary. Yes, we all know smoking is bad. But here's an example:
My grandmother is almost 90 years old, she weighs about 80 Lbs, and her
blood pressure is so low that it is hardly even measurable. For the last 20
years, the family has been convinced that her smoking habit is the only
thing keeping her alive :)

Enterprise manager sucks SO BAD that I am currently writing a new one in
VB.NET. Have you ever clicked on a server group in EM over a dialup link?
It goes like this:
BEGIN TRANSACTION
Click
Go make a sandwich.
Check the hourglass
@.#$% your woman
Check the hourglass
Give up and try to use QA instead
Make a pot of coffee
TIMEOUT ERROR!
COMMIT TRANSACTION
As "Bill the Cat" so eloquently put it, "PPTPTPHPTHPHTPTHTH"

I'm amazed I lived this long. Here's a sample:
SELECT [stuff]
FROM tblA
INNER JOING tblB
ON RIGHT(tblA.ThisColumn, 4) =
SUBSTRING(tblB.ThatColumn..........
Well, you get the idea,
These people need a shrink.

Actually, while you were away this became standard. :)
